We are excited to announce the launch of three new engineering materials for the Mayku Multiplier: ABS, PMMA, and UHMW. Adding these materials to the Multiplier's portfolio unlocks new possibilities for users' projects and enables powerful applications.
By integrating these engineering materials into your Multiplier workflow, you can take advantage of their unique properties and create parts with exceptional performance characteristics, all in-house. Discover how ABS, PMMA, and UHMW can take your projects to the next level with the Mayku Multiplier.
Why engineering materials?
We believe that the key to unlocking your project's full potential is access to the right materials. With the launch of ABS, PMMA, and UHMW for the Mayku Multiplier, we are expanding the range of materials available to our users. This will allow them to produce high-quality parts, molds and prototypes.
Traditionally, creating parts with these materials required complex and expensive workflows or the use of limited geometric molding workflows. Integrating these engineering materials into your Multiplier workflow allows you to take advantage of their unique properties, such as heat resistance, transparency, and friction reduction.
What can these materials do?
Let's take a closer look at each material and how it can be integrated into your Mayku Multiplier workflow.
ABS
ABS, or Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, is a thermoplastic polymer that is widely used in the manufacturing industry. Thanks to its strength, durability, and resistance to impact, heat, and chemicals, ABS is a popular material for producing a variety of consumer products, including toys, automotive parts, electronic housings, and kitchen appliances.
PMMA
PMMA, or Polymethyl methacrylate, is a transparent thermoplastic that is commonly referred to as acrylic. It is frequently used as a durable and lightweight alternative to glass due to its shatter-resistant properties. PMMA is a versatile material that can be used in a variety of applications thanks to its transparency, durability, and weather resistance.
UHMW
UHMW, or ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene, is a thermoplastic known for its exceptional strength, durability, and wear resistance. It is often used in applications where a low coefficient of friction is required, such as in bearings and conveyor systems. In some cases, its strength and ability to resist wear and tear can outperform traditional steel components. Moreover, UHMW's non-stick properties make it a suitable material for molds, as it helps in the easy removal of casted objects.
Integrating engineering materials into your Multiplier workflow
All materials have undergone thorough testing, and specific profiles have been created for the Multiplier to ensure ease of use and reliable results.
To start using the new engineering materials, update your Multiplier to the latest firmware in the Settings menu.
Material availability
The new Multiplier materials are now available on some territories and will be available everywhere in the coming weeks. For more information and availability check our Preferred Multiplier Partners or click here:
New possibilities with the Multiplier material portfolio
Now that we've proven the workflow with our existing materials and 3D formers, expanding the material library and enabling new applications is Mayku's top priority. Accessible engineering materials enable small businesses to gain momentum and control over their means of production, and large businesses to diversify and decentralize their manufacturing methods, stabilizing their supply chains and allowing in-house production. Introducing materials that are new to the Multiplier, but familiar to the industry, is the most powerful way we can enable innovation and encourage new workflows across every discipline.
